Our History

  • 2017 - 2019
    Initial Efforts
SFPA’s journey began with a group of passionate former players and football advocates coming together to address the growing needs of Sudanese footballers. During this initial phase, the association focused on raising awareness about player rights, welfare, and the lack of structured support systems. Through informal meetings, consultations, and partnerships with local football clubs, SFPA laid the foundation for its mission to protect and support players throughout their careers.
  • 2019 - 2023
    Laying the Foundation
In this phase, SFPA began rolling out its core services, including career counseling, legal support, and wellbeing resources. Pilot programs were launched to test initiatives like mental health workshops and contract negotiation workshops, gathering feedback from players to improve these services. SFPA also started to build its network of coaches, medical professionals, and financial advisors, forging strategic alliances to better serve Sudanese footballers.
  • 2025 - 2026
    Official Establishment
After years of groundwork, SFPA officially launched in 2025 with a robust range of services, a comprehensive strategic roadmap, and a growing community of active members. The official launch marked a new era for Sudanese football, with SFPA establishing a strong presence across the country, offering no-cost services to all players, and advocating for systemic change in player welfare. With a solid foundation, SFPA continues to expand its reach, supporting both current and former players.
